The scholarship was created to encourage and assist Music majors in the field of music education.

Scholarships are to be awarded to all eligible applicants in the following order:
A.
i. Credential candidates and those who are approved to pursue the teaching credential whose major is voice.
ii. Credential candidates and those who are approved to pursue the teaching credential whose major is piano.
iii. Credential candidates and those who are approved to pursue the teaching credential whose major is other than voice or piano.
iv. Entering students, freshmen preferred, who show considerable potential as performing musicians, who indicate a strong interest in teaching, and whose major is voice.
v. Entering students, freshmen preferred, who show considerable potential as performing musicians, who indicate a strong interest in teaching, and whose major is piano.
vi. Entering students, freshmen preferred, who show considerable potential as performing musicians, who indicate a strong interest in teaching, and whose major is other than voice or piano.
vii.continuing students, first sophomores, then juniors, who demonstrate considerable development as performing musicians, who indicate a strong interest in teaching and whose majors are voice, piano, other than voice and piano, in the preferential order.

B.The strength of the applicant’s performance shall be considered in awarding a scholarship.

C.Applicants from categories iv through vii, inclusive, listed above shall submit a written statement attesting to the applicant’s interest or intent to pursue a career in music teaching.
