The John and Joyce Schaeuble Award for Best Use of Quantitative Data in Psychology Expenditure is intended to provide philanthropic support for awards to students who demonstrate the best use of quantitative data in psychology.

- Submit a report previously prepared for a research study at Sacramento State that used quantitative methods of data analysis. o Report could be a research paper that was submitted for a course in which the study was conducted, or a presentation of the research at a regional or national conference of psychologists, or a presentation of the research at a regional or national interdisciplinary conference in which a substantial portion of the program is psychological research. o A conference presentation may be submitted in any form that was acceptable for the conference but must provide sufficient information to explain how the study was conducted. o Research that involves human subjects must have appropriate Institutional Review Board approval. o Students who worked jointly and contributed equally on a study may apply together for an award to be shared, in which case each student must apply and meet the academic criteria for the award. o Faculty may be listed as a co-author on a convention presentation, but students must have done the bulk of the work on the research and the report of the research.
- Submit an additional paper of sufficient length (maximum of 6 pages) to explain the following: A.How the research design led to the particular quantitative methods used to analyze the data, B. other methods of analysis, if any, that were considered for the data and how they might have contributed to an understanding of the study, C. assumptions made about the data in the methods that were used and how those assumptions were evaluated, and D. limitations in the conclusions of the research, such as those reflected in the statistical power of the study, effect sizes of reported results, and confidence intervals for reported statistics. This paper must be entirely the work of the student applying individually or multiple students applying jointly for the award. • Name(s) of the author(s) or other information identifying the student should not be included on either paper; instead, this and contact information should be provided on a separate cover page.
