Chapter Empowerment Scholarship
Scholarship awards to students participating in the Alumni Association/Black Alumni Chapter (BAC). Students must meet the following requirements:
Minimum GPA: 2.5 Overall GPA
Major: Any Major
Class Level: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Classified Graduate, 2nd Bachelor’s Degree
Enrollment: Full time at time of award (half time & full time as defined by current Sacramento State catalog)
Other Specific Criteria:
Applicants must submit a three-page typed essay responding to the following:
- Provide a statement that discusses your reason for attending Sacramento State.
- Have you experienced social, economic, or other disadvantages that you have had to overcome? If so, please discuss those disadvantages and the ways in which these experiences have affected your academic opportunities.
- Please discuss your academic and career goals. In addition, discuss your potential to successfully complete your degree.
Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation. The letter of recommendation must come from a Sacramento State faculty or staff member.
Applicants must provide evidence of community service and/or leadership.

- Please submit an unofficial copy of your high school transcipt or Sacramento State transcript.
- Please provide evidence of community service and/or leadership.
- Sac State Faculty and Staff Letter of Reference Request:
Please ask your reference for their time before filling out their names and email addresses on the scholarship application.
Your reference must be a faculty or staff member who can attest to your qualities, personality, and experience.
