Hortense Simmons Study Abroad Scholarship
The Hortense Simmons Study Abroad Scholarship was created to encourage English department students to study world literature by providing support for studying abroad through global education.
Open to students who meet the following requirements:
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Majors: English
- Class Level: Undergraduate: Sophomore, junior, or senior; or Graduate: Classified Graduates
- Financial Need Required: no
- Enrollment Requirements: full-time at the time of award
Supplemental Requirement
- Submit a CSUS Study Aboard Application Online

- A brief statement describing how studying literature abroad will affect their academic plans for the future. (Max 250 words)
- Provide Two letters of recommendation from members of the English Department faculty.
*Successful applicants admitted to the study abroad program will be given scholarship consideration during the upcoming term. Enrollment and registration will be verified by (IPGE) and the Scholarship office.
