Ruth Rippon Ceramic Scholarship

Ruth Rippon (b. 1927), Sacramento native and widely celebrated ceramic artist, taught ceramic art for more than three decades at Sacramento State. Hired in 1956, Ms. Rippon helped found the Universitys important ceramic arts program, developing it and expanding its prestige over her years as a teacher who guided hundreds of students to perfect their craft and achieve individual creative expression. Many of them became influential artists and teachers in the region. Colleagues, admirers, and former students contributed to the Ruth Rippon scholarship fund, thus increasing the endowment and making the scholarship a lasting testimony to her legacy and the gratitude of the community.

The Ruth Rippon Ceramic Scholarship Endowment is to support CSUS students majoring in Art with a focus in ceramic expression.
