Marla Chicconi Memorial

This scholarship is in honor of Kristen Marla Swift Chicconi, who received both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Art Department at Sacramento State. Marla attended Sacramento State from 1966 to 1970, where she earned her BA in Art, with an emphasis in studio work in oils, pen-and-ink and sculpture. After graduation, she traveled throughout Europe to view an extensive array of artwork, especially in Paris and Rome.

During the seventies, Marla pursued a graduate degree at Sacramento State, with studies in art therapy, art education and art history, culminating in a masters degree in art history.

Marla married Lou Chicconi (Sacramento State, BA Journalism ’69, MA Linguistics ’75) in 1972, raised a child, worked in retail, managed the family sign business, and remained active in local arts throughout her life.

Students applying must meet the following requirements:
*Must have a 2.0 GPA
*Must major in Art
*Must be an undergraduate sophomore, junior, and senior
*At least half time of time of award and at time of application
