PFLAG scholarships for members of LGBTQIA+
PFLAG Sacramento is pleased to offer scholarships of $2,000 or more to qualified students from the Sacramento area. The scholarship is named in honor of The Rev. and Mrs. Merrill Follansbee, and Jean Hansen, our chapter’s co-founders and proud parents of LGBTQ+ individuals.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
Individuals who:
self-identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and demonstrate an interest in service to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and currently live in the Greater Sacramento Region (El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, Yuba, San Joaquin, Amador, or Calaveras County), and will be enrolled at a college, university, or technical school for the 2024-25 academic year, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
This year 2 scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $2,500 each
While completing this form, applicants will be asked to upload the following documents:
Unofficial copy of your most recent school transcript showing a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5, or equivalent certificates of completion A letter outlining why your reference recommends you for this scholarship (family members may not write the letter of recommendation) An essay on the topic “What are your dreams for your future and how would this scholarship help you achieve your dreams and/or higher education goals?” (essays are an integral part of the application, please be thoughtful)- If you have any access needs regarding this application, or if you have any questions/concerns, please reach out to scholarships@pflagsacramento.org
