Richard W. Fish Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to honor Dr. Fish legacy of mentoring chemistry majors and pre-health students by supporting students interested in pursuing pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-veterinary careers or advanced degrees in chemistry.
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to receive this scholarship:

  • Major: Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biological Sciences
  • Minimum GPA: 2.5 GPA in good academic standing
  • Class Level: Undergrad: Junior, Senior
  • Financial Need: Financial need is required
  • Enrollment: Full-time enrollment at the time of award and at the time of application

  • Must have an interest in pursuing pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-veterinary careers or advanced degrees in chemistry
  • Must have completed at least one semester at Sacramento State before applying for the scholarship
  • Applicants should submit the name of a faculty member willing to offer a recommendation. Finalists for the scholarship may have their faculty reference contacted
  • Applicants should submit an essay describing their career path and how they have overcome an obstacle towards achieving educational goals
