Gale Gault Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is intended to encourage more women to enter the field. The Gale Gault Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of Gale Gault, who was a member of the Sacramento State graduating class of 1984. Gale loved studying geography as a student. She worked as an elementary school teach in the Dallas area for many years, and later as a realtor. It was Gale’s wish to provide scholarships to women in geography to encourage more women to enter the field.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to receive this scholarship:

  • Major: Geography
  • Minimum GPA: Good Academic Standing (2.0 Undergraduate and 3.0 Graduate Students)
  • Class Level: Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Classified Graduate
  • Financial Need: Financial need may be considered, but is not required
  • Enrollment: Part time enrollment at time of award and at time of application
  • Other: See Below (Apply-to)

• Applicants must submit a brief essay answering the question: Why is women’s representation in the field of geography important, and what are you doing to promote women in geography?
• Student is eligible to reapply for the scholarship award for up to four (4) years. The student’s application will be considered by the Scholarship Committee as a part of the entire applicant pool.
• Preference given for applicants who are women.
